Portal Access Document Templates: Investor/Contact Merge Statement
Displaying the Correct Investor/Contact information
Access Granted to an Investor Additional Contact
When a Portal Access Notification is sent to an Investor Additional Contact, the InvestorCompanyName is populated with the name of the investor the Additional Contact was granted access to. The Contact Detail mergefields will be empty, since portal access was not granted to the investor contact but rather to the investor itself.
Access Granted to an email on the Investor Beneficiary Contact
When a Portal Access Notification is sent to an email that was added to the Main Contact Details on the Investor Beneficiary Contact, the ContactCompanyName is populated with the name of the contact the Main Contact email was granted access to. The Investor name mergefield will be empty, since portal access was not granted to the investor but rather to the investor contact.
Access Granted to Beneficial Owner Contact on the Investor
When “Grant Portal Access to Beneficial Owner Contact” is ticked on the Investor Window, a Portal Access Notification is sent to all emails in the Main Contact Details that have portal access to the Investor Beneficiary Contact. In this case, since the email has been given access to the Investor Beneficiary Contact, the ContactCompanyName is populated with the name of the contact the Main Contact email was granted access to. However, since the access to the Investor was just granted to the Investor Beneficiary Contact, the Investor name mergefield will be populated as well.
Conditional Merge Statements
To accommodate all of these scenarios in one document template, a conditional merge statement can be written that shows different text for each scenario, based on which mergefields are populated.
For example, in the conditional merge statement below, different text and mergefields are used for each of the circumstances listed above:
Using a conditional merge statement such as this one, ensures that the email text shows the correct information in each situation.
