How to Encrypt and Decrypt Documents in the LogiPro Database
How to encrypt documents in the database.
Go to Admin > General Settings > Document Storage tab.
To encrypt the documents in the LogiPro database click the top box "Encrypt documents on the Root Folder", then click the Encrypt Existing Documents button.
Observe the warning that this process may take some time, so make sure that this is taken into account and ensure that the server is not going to be switched off until the task is completed.
Once the task is completed, the below message is displayed.
Note - When LogiPro encrypts documents, it marks the file in the file system (Windows Explorer) by unticking the “File is ready for archiving” tickbox.
The regular functionality for decrypting documents only decrypts documents that have this tickbox unticked. This can be viewed by right clicking on the file in Windows Explorer, clicking on Properties then on the Advanced button. If the box is unticked then the file is encrypted and can only be viewed via LogiPro.
To Decrypt Documents
Go to Admin > General Settings > Document Storage tab.
Ensure that the Encrypt documents in Root Folder tickbox is cleared.
This enables the Decrypt Existing Documents button.
Observe the warning that this may take some time to complete. We recommend that this is done after hours and that the server is not powered down until it is complete.
Once the process is complete, a conformation dialogue box will be displayed.
However, if the files are copied and pasted into the file system (such as may happen if a new server is installed), the tickbox in the file properties gets ticked back again. Since this creates a situation that there are documents that were encrypted that are not marked as such, an option has been added to disregard the encryption flag check box, so that LogiPro will still decrypt them.
To access this feature, go to Admin > General Settings > Document Storage tab
Ensure that the Encrypt documents in Root Folder tickbox is cleared. This allows the Decrypt Existing Documents button to appear and the Disregard encryption flag check box to show.
Then click the Decrypt Existing Documents button.
Take care to do this process when the system is not being heavily accessed, and allow sufficient time for the process to complete.
